Microchannel heat exchangers are compact, all-aluminium coils built from flat multiport tubes and louvred fins, joined through a controlled atmosphere brazing process. Unlike conventional round tube plate fin (RTPF) coils, microchannel coils use multiple tiny refrigerant channels within each flat tube to maximise heat transfer surface area and promote turbulent refrigerant flow. The result is a coil that delivers higher thermal efficiency at a fraction of the weight and with a significantly lower refrigerant charge than traditional designs.
